London’s premiere spooky folk-blues troubadours LOCKS release their highly anticipated
new EP, Tall Tales with the lead track JARS
Following a covid enforced hiatus LOCKS have returned with some of their strongest
music to date. The Tom Waits-esque stomp of JARS uses gory imagery, rattled chains and
an unnerving staccato riff to conjure a feeling of an undead cabaret performing in a dimly
lit London club.
Tall Tales is a short 4 track sampling of what’s to come next. The band have taken a slight side-step from murder ballads and have compiled a collection of songs revolving around themes of deception, betrayal, revenge and, of course, death.
LOCKS are:
L. Geary-Griffin - Vox & Guitars
M. McClenaghan - Fiddle
A. Marvell - Drums & Percussion
M. Byrne - Double Bass
Recorded at Space Echo East by Alex McGowan
Released via Out Of The Woods Records.

lyrics
We’ve got tall tales, lies for eyes
A wicked tongue with words that always come out wrong,
And all these evil little favors you keep on cashing in are going to bite you in the light of the dawn.
Saw it creeping out from in between the trees,
Some crude little creature on its’ hands and knees
Did you think we wouldn’t notice and turn the other way
You better find your faith and start to pray.
“We’ve got, sharp claws, pitches & forks
We’ll burn down your house and then we’ll kill you for sport
And we’ve got pots & pans and knives to cut off hands,
And jars to keep them all safe.”
There’s cats in the ally and the moon is looking fat
The wretched are coming with their bloody base ball bats
Pull your hood over your eyes, strap your gun to your thighs
And pray, you make it out alive.
“We’ll keep on pulling teeth, digging deep down into the ground
Breaking bones, throwing stones and leaving meat out for the crows,
Then we’ll strip the skin, show your rotten soul within
‘cause we’ve got jars to keep them all safe.”
And we’ll go…
La da di da di da, how we’ll go dancing in the pale moonlight
And we’ll go la da di da di da, how we’ll be selling those souls to the night
La da di da di da, how we’ll be dancing in the pale moonlight
And we’ll go la da di da di da, how we’ll be selling your souls to the night
But bare in mind…
“We’ve got, sharp claws, pitches & forks
We’ll burn down your house and then we’ll kill you for sport
And we’ve got pots & pans and knives to cut off hands,
And jars to keep them all safe.
We’ll keep on pulling teeth, digging deep down into the ground
Breaking bones, throwing stones and leaving meat out for the crows,
Then we’ll strip the skin, show your rotten soul within
‘cause we’ve got jars to keep them all safe.
‘cause we’ve got jars to keep them all safe.
‘cause we’ve got jars to keep them all safe.”
